Jamaican sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce could call time on her illustrious career in 2021 after the World Athletic Championships.

According to a report in the Agence France Presse—the sprint star who is in Berlin for the Laureus World Sports Awards—disclosed that she may end her illustrious career at the World Games slated to be held in Eugene, Oregon next year.

Fraser-Pryce, 33, is quoted as saying, “After Tokyo, I am the defending champion at the World Championships in Eugene, and that is so close to home.”

She said the highlight of her career would be to have all of her family there to watch her close out her track career. However, she notes that she will make her final decision after the Tokyo Olympics which is scheduled to get underway in July this year, at which point she will be 34.

Fraser-Pryce is aiming to win a third gold medal in the 100m to add to the four gold she has in the World Championships. “I’m feeling good. The last two years have been an amazing journey for me and added to my motivation in getting me ready for Tokyo,” she remarked.

The 2020 Olympic Games will be postponed by one year because of coronavirus, says International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound.

It comes after the chairman of the British Olympic Association said Great Britain would be unlikely to send a team to Tokyo this summer.

Australia and Canada have already said they will not compete in Japan.

"On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided," Pound told USA today.

"The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on 24 July, that much I know."

The International Olympic Committee has given itself four weeks to decide on the future of this summer's Games, but veteran IOC member Pound says a decision will be announced soon.

"It will come in stages," he said.

"We will postpone this and begin to deal with all the ramifications of moving this, which are immense."

Legendary sprinter and an eight-time Olympic gold medallist, Usain Bolt has tested positive for coronavirus a few days after partying with his friends on his 34th birthday.

According to the Daily Mail report, a radio station in Jamaica, ‘Nationwide90fm’ revealed that he contracted the dreaded virus saying that the sprinter will now spend time in self-isolation as a result.

The publication further added that Bolt had undergone the COVID-19 test a few days back and only discovered on Sunday that he tested positive.

Bolt’s surprise birthday party was attended by a host of notable personalities namely English footballer Raheem Sterling, Bayer Leverkusen attacker Leon Bailey and Windies cricket legend Chris Gayle. Videos of the guests dancing had gone viral on social media.

It is yet to be confirmed whether Bolt is suffering from any symptoms but the report added that he would go into isolation.

Bolt is one of the most prominent sportspersons in the world to have tested positive after tennis star Novak Djokovic, who had tested positive back in June after the disastrous and controversial Adria Tour.

When I read Bolt has tested positive. .. I thought he was tested for performance enhancing drugs and part of me died before i read it was the virus.

I'm sure he'll pull through
I am sure Bolt will recover from the virus but he might end up with a hefty fine for having a birthday party breaking quarantine laws. Jamaican government has initiated an inquiry into it.
