Good going by our boys....The weather is heating up quite nicely....hence easy to bat....
It's Root again....unbeaten on 163. England 473/5 trailing by 80 going into the 4the day. A drab draw most likely on the cards.
Was really fascinated by how Stokes played last evening. Was initially wondering why he did that with the team so far behind still as well.

But then when you think about it - I guess it was because the pitch was flat, fast scoring ground - there was still Foakes to come and Root is well set. So England were probably trying to push the game forward as much as possible so that they can force a result. I think Pope's comments at the end suggested something similar too.

If that was the case it is so refreshing to see.

Even Root wasn't as watchful as he would normally be. Just ate into anything he felt he can smash to the boundary. There was a stunning on drive towards the end off Southee I think it was. Almost Pietersen esque.

Both teams dropped so many chances that its costing them heavily. Wish Mitchell didn't drop any given the game/series he has had so far. Must be feeling pretty low after batting so well.

Another entertaining day in store I believe. NZ , if they manage to get some wickets early, could be looking at a lead.
and how the hell they managed to drop Neil Wagner twice in a row is beyond me. They are missing him big time.
Stokes is in a very interesting phase with his batting

I like the new approach. Eng are 1-0 up and I guess he’s trying to drive the game forward quickly to look for a result somehow. Pretty endearing

It's pretty endering that England has conceded a 14 run first innings lead to NZ. Trent Boult 5/106
The ball is moving all over the place suddenly. Latham left a ball that came in a bit from Anderson. 4/1
650 test wickets Jimmy Anderson.

Yeah but because of the way England played, NZ is under pressure now!

The moment England started dominating batting, they started attacking. Even with a 50 run lead given where the game is, NZ is under pressure now. Pope Root both were saying the same thing.
