England as usual are making light work of the chase as they have done this whole series. 113 more needed with 8 wickets in hand and pope and Root in full flow, should wrap this up in the second session of day 5.

Moeen did in 2017 didnt he? Against South africa or something

You are right, Moeen did get a 10 wicket haul against SA in 2017 at Lord's.

You need to watch the full version of this masterclass. The 2 minute version doesn't do any justice. But you need to access Sky Youtube via a UK server.

Its one of the great masterclasses with excellent suggestions and methods to play swing. And Sanga points out how the coaching manual contradicts itself lol.

And it's amazing because when it comes to batting against swing, people only talk about playing it late. Never heard the stuff Sanga mentions here.

Absolutely brilliant.
Bad news for England on day 5 morning. Start delayed due to rain and this says there might not be any play before lunch. How many overs will England need to score the remaining 113 runs, maybe 10 overs the way they are batting at the moment. Rolleyes

Was wondering about the same. Not sure why NZ went with 3 bowlers and 1 part timer. And almost no one else to bowl.
They get some wickets with the new ball. But when the ball is older and the fast bowlers are tired, the batsmen feast.

So I think NZ selections have contributed as much as the new England thinking for what happened in this series.

Gotta wait and see how England does with a complete bowling attack.
Gotta agree with what Mark Butcher said - I don't care if they suddenly fold and get all out on and off. Because over the last 3 test matches we've had such great entertainment.

Real test will be how they adjust in the subcontinent.

Unless they are rank turners like what India served up last time around, I don't think batting will be the major test.

It's probably how you tactically approach fields and bowling in dead flat pitches. Because attacking fields in England doesn't translate the same way in the subcontinent. Attacking in India, SL, Pakistan could mean more fielders in front of the wicket. So very curious to see what template they go with in the Pakistan tour coming up. Because as we know, say when Babar or a Rizwan get going with the whole crowd behind them, that's when the real toil starts. Will feel like drowning if you don't hit the breaks. Really hope they find a method that works for this style of play. Could be really great cricket to watch.
Play was supposed to start at 12 noon (local time) but the rain has come back and they will take an early lunch.
Maybe Eng will chase this down in "tin" overs.
Overcast conditions, still over 100 runs. If NZ want anything to go there way, they've got the conditions. And Pope is out now. England will keep attacking no matter what.
Pope goes early castled by Southee adding just one run to his overnight score.... England 185/3
