But he didn't. Gill was moving seeing the batsman reverse sweep and the ball went to his left. No doubt it was catchable but it didn't go straight to him.
Yeah lol. It was catchable. Gill`s fault. He was there for that reason. Rahul also dropped Jansen off Ashwin. LOL. In 19 overs, Ashwin created 3 opportunities at an economy of 2. Only a fool would not call that good bowling
For the holiday season the SLCF Draft Council is presenting a new draft - this time a Double Team (not what you're thinking, perverts) format.
WHAT IS THE DRAFT FORMAT?
ATG ODI Draft - all ODI players are eligible.
Silent auction format (bids are sent to me by PM) consisting of 11 rounds.
Unlike before, the players you can bid for in each round will NOT be limited to a list of players - you are free to send in bids to any player you want.
The team must consist of 2 specialist openers, 1 wicket keeper, and 2 opening bowlers.
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH DOUBLE TEAMS?
After signing up, there will be a time period where each manager must find a partner to team up.
After the team selections, there will be a simulated ODI tournament.
The final winner will be chosen considering the performance of the both teams of a manager-team.
The two managers paired up are free to discuss their bids and form a strategy during bidding process.
For those who haven't been involved in the past, this is both a draft and fantasy game where the winner will be decided by how their players produce across the year. To give a large enough pool of players for a draft, every international game in calendar year 2024 (Test, ODI, T20I) will be counted in the one competition.
As an aside it should add interest to series that you wouldn’t have otherwise given much thought to. We are fully #antiwdwcc
Scoring will be 1 point for every run,
20 per wicket and
5 per catch/stumping.
The year will be broken into 4 three-month quarters (Q1 = Jan-Mar, etc) with a main draft in December, and minor changes before every quarter where you can cut guys who aren’t playing/performing and replace them with anyone else who hasn’t been picked (via a minidraft in reverse order of current standings).
Two days after the ODI World Cup final, possible discussions around the future of the 50-overs format are on the cards. There will be at least two boards pushing for the revival of the recently-scrapped 13-team ODI Super League. With a new qualification pathway already approved for a 14-team 2027 men's ODI World Cup, the Super League, if it does return, could only do so from 2028.
Zimbabwe - co-hosts of the 2027 ODI World Cup along with South Africa and Namibia - are advocating for an analysis to be conducted over the current World Cup to gauge its global popularity.
"This World Cup came at the same time as the rugby World Cup, so it would be a good opportunity to compare the audience and measure our global impact as a sport," Zimbabwe Cricket chair Tavengwa Mukuhlani said.
"It felt like the Rugby World Cup was more popular, especially in countries where both sports are popular. I don't think the problem is with the ODI format... there aren't enough teams in the World Cup, even 14 isn't enough. And there won't be context without the Super League.
"We need ODI cricket, we can't afford to not have it. It is still a money-maker for us and many countries."
