TN was plagued with casteism, like extreme casteism since it is arrival in the 13th century. SL yes, but not that much. Brahmins that make up max of 2% used to run everything and pretty much oppressed everyone else. TN had sent 30 something players to represent India and Washington Sundar and Natarajan were and are still the only Tamil Players from TN that aren't Brahmins and they represent only 2% of the entire TN population. They claimed that's how "Hinduism" is and used that to oppress everyone. Brahmins technically are from North India, they were brought as priests, this is why some of the North Indian "hinduism" spread to South India. This is why N Srinivasan, Vijau Murali, Krish Srikkanth all look pale skinned. But not then again there is Ashwin, Lakxman Laxman shiva rama krishnan. Anyway, so "anti-hindu" movement began in early 60s and since then for the for the last 50 years TN has been governed by 2 "Anti-hindu" party. India is pretty much is a union, the state elections get much more hype than the national election. Each state is pretty much a different country(the northenr states not so much). 80% of TN populations are hindus but they dont care about being ruled by "Anit-Hindu" parties because they don't oppress anyone, just got rid of barbaric exclusions. This pissed of Brahmins in TN. Even in SL, if you look all the Tamil politicians that worked along with SL government like Laxman Kadirgamar, mysteriously they are all 90% Brahmins lol. This is why most Tamil players as well as people in general use their dad's first name instead of last name. They just put their dad's name first and then their name. Only the younger guys like Washington Sundar has his first name first and then his dad's name second. This was a way to eradicate casteism.

Why hate Modi
Now, Islam and Christianity to TN spread through peace. Unlike SL, in TN, most muslims consider themselves Tamils who practice Islam. They also practice Sufism, all their prayers are in Tamil, food is in Tamil, literature and etc. Same thing with Christianity. People don't care for religion in TN, same with Tamils in SL but Islam in SL became weird. Now, BJP wanted to make inroads into Tamil Nadu in the last 5-6 years or so, so they started going with the Brahmins(CSK is owned by N.Srinivasan), they started talking about caste, telling Muslims to go back to Pakistan and that Christians are not real Indians and are a conspired by the West to destroy India. They run extremely hateful politics. They accuse activists of secretly being Christians and muslims. So imagine calling Kumar Sangakkara, "Kumar Salim" or Russel Arnold "Russel Abdulla", they literally do nasty shit. They do it in multiple ways, they have have affiliate parties that act like Bodu Bala Sena and they also do it professionally like by haveing people in film boards, getting rid of taxes for movies that promote Hinduism and movies where the good guy fights bad "Islamic terrorism".

So here is your answer. In fact, these guys even sent their man to Jaffna. If Tamils in SL had seen them as "Hindus" India would have been in North and East easily.

Islam didn't spread to southern India as it was stopped by the Marathas in Maharashtra. The Mughals who invaded from north in the 12th century were decimated by the Marathas by the start of 17th century. That's the reason Islam didn't spread down south and we have this wonderful temples in TN today from 10th or 11th century.

The Hindus, sikhs & even the Muslims went through lots of hardship under the Mughals. Many people were converted, had the Marathas, Rajputs & Sikhs not taken swords against rampaging Mughals, entire India from north to south including Sri Lanka would have been practicing Islam today.

Btw it's good TN today still doesn't have national parties ruling the state, as regional parties DMK & AIDMK have done wonders to the economy & livelihood of the TN ppl.
