RE: SLCF Chat Thread - JamisBanda - 10-25-2023 Awesome, yeah trains are awesome in Europe except in France I think where things can go wrong with their usual protests, Paris is famous for that. Usually it's always chaos in Paris one way or another. With train passes allowing you to travel all over Europe it's definitely a way great to cover Europe if it's something you can handle. Usually it's always chaos in Paris one way or another. Yea it's a no brainer once you are on mainland EU. Unless you are flying from one side of EU to the other or very long distances it's much more efficient and relaxing to take the train. Flying means you need to be the airport 3 hours before and a couple of hours flying etc adds up to nearly 6+ hours. With trains you walk up about 20 mins before, get on and go and usually city centre to city centre. It's a way more comfortable seats and you can walk around the train if you're bored and grab a snack in a restaurant carriage etc. RE: SLCF Chat Thread - JamisBanda - 10-25-2023 If any non EU citizens planning to travel EU by trains research up Eurail pass, you can get different types of passes which allows you to hop in and hop off in all European countries. Sometimes you get double decker trains which gives you great views which we don't have in UK as far as I know. Sometimes you get double decker trains which gives you great views which we don't have in UK as far as I know. Need to be careful with a Eurorail pass. Its only cost effective if you are travelling quite a bit. So if someone is planning a trip it is best to price how much point-to-point tickets are first and see if buying a European pass makes it financially beneficial. If you are just doing a few trips it might be cheaper to just get the point to point ticket. A longer trip could use a eurorail pass. Wasn’t cheap obviously. But as I said I booked 2 of the flights on points. So saved some money there. Travel is worth every penny imo. RE: SLCF Chat Thread - JamisBanda - 10-25-2023 Damn 18 days is a long trip, I can't even do 2 weeks in any holiday even in SL without getting home sick these days. Living in Aus and going to EU we wanted to maximise the time spent on long travel. It was 8 hours to Singa and 13 to Amsterdam! I’d easily do more days but can’t cuz of kids school. Both are moping around at home now missing the travel buzz. They did really well cuz we walked around a heck of a lot! Proud of them! |
