The allocation of slots for each confederation was discussed by the FIFA Executive Committee on 30 May 2015 in Zürich after the FIFA Congress.[33] The committee decided that the allocations in 2006, which remained unchanged for 2010, 2014, and 2018, would continue for the 2022 tournament:[34]

AFC (Asia): 4.5 (not including host nation)
UEFA (Europe): 13
CONCACAF (North and Central America and Caribbean): 3.5
OFC (Oceania): 0.5
CONMEBOL (South America): 4.5

SL used to be around #130 in rankings. They're like 200 now.
However, I feel this team is more equipped to handle modern football compared to the teams in the past.

The type of grass on football pitches is very different now. And football boot technology has changed a lot. So yea I would have to agree with the comment.

surely they need to recheck these qualifying criteria don't you think, on one hand best of the best teams fight for few spots and teams like Italy who has genuine chance of winning the WC get kicked out but on the other hand there are free passes for teams from other regions just because their geography.
Doesn't sound right.
