Lmao Kalu. First wanted to drop Chandi and now he replied with a great 100.
Says Kamindu doesn’t deserve a place in the test team? Lmao how come? On what basis?

He averages 60+ in FC. Had a stellar NSL. He should have been picked of Asalanka earlier who averages sub 30 in FC.

What makes you rate Nuwanidu over Kamindu? I am pleasantly surprised.

In recent internationals A team etc he has not batted well. Talents as a youth must be carried to international cricket.

Chandi was very good and consistent from 2015 plus, including the near 7 ODI 50s 4 against England and 3 including the 49 run out in SL. But, I think the defining event which made him lose his mojo and confidence was the cheating scandal in the WI. Since then downhill. Scoring important runs now but, needs to reestablish his former form. I will now give him the benefit of doubt

Dickers role needs to be Q given how he bats in tests. He is the under Pant, not the real one. As KM has to bat at 3 or 4 he shouldn't keep. In which case it's Chandimal at 7, a wk who can hold it together.

But, it's going to take a lot for these guys to let Dickers go. DK really likes him

Totally Agree!  The point is that, lot of people don't remember exact innings that these batsmen have played for their team.  So with few failures they start asking for his head while promoting a "braindead loser" like Dickewella who is yet to score a test century. How he got out today also tells you that, Dickies should not even play T20 and ODIs because he cannot even clear a mid-on fielder.  No power in his lofted shots!

Sri Lanka has 3 test batsmen who would put a huge price on their wicket, and when get going they bat like there is no tomorrow.  These types of batting mentalities are very hard to find in SL, especially among the new younger batsmen.  These 3 are Dimuth, Mathews and Chandimal.  When there are no health issues for them, we should never drop these 3 batsmen from our TEST team.  All other batsmen including DDS and Kusal Mendis, should be selected around these 3 batters.

If you don't understand the above, let me try to explain this to you using an example;  those 3 batters are the closest we could come to the type of batting temperament shown by Joe Root, Steven Smith and Labuschange.  Look at how Smith batted once he went past 100 on Day 2.  He batted like he was still trying to get to 50 run mark.  Very careful batting knowing that he got the eye-in and could see the ball like a football.  Someone like Dickwella would never bat like that, so if he also could not wicket keep well, there is no need for Dickie to be in the TEST side, if KM or Chandimal could keep equally well!

Remember being our best TEST wicket keeper, how Prasanna Jayawardena used to bat for us?  He has gotten engaged in with couple of match saving partnerships with Sanga, and even went to the extent of scoring centuries.

Dickie will never wicket keep like in the caliber of Mahesh Gunathileka, Amal Silva and Prasanna Jayawardena.  It is a shame that we even call him our undisputed best wicket keeper we have in the country, thus indirectly labelling him at the level of those 3 legendary test wicket keepers that we had in the past.

No one is comparing Dickwella with the three great keepers mentioned here. It's ridiculous to even think like that. There is nothing called "undisputed best wicket keeper we have in the country", did anyone say that? I guess most people are criticising him for his batting more than his keeping. He is not consistent by any means but comes up with important innings. Maybe we give Kusal Mendis more opportunities to keep so that we can play both DdS and Kamindu in the test side as suggested by another member.

Has he been consistently bad recently? He's been pretty bad in this game for sure.

Not sure if the winds at Galle are not helping him hear nicks or whatever. Also, would it be bad if umpires were plugged into the stump mic?

KM 2.0 played a very assured knock in a tough match position. Didn't look ruffled when Starc had his good spell right after lunch. Very promising so far. In experience probably led to the poor shot that he got out to in the end.

Lots to work with though.
