i believe what dilz said. i dont think many people are born 100% gay or straight.

for most its social circumstances that determine if they are live a homosexual life or not. but i don't believe it's a choice, sexuality is dynamic just like what movies u like at a certain age and what music u listen to- u like what u like when u like it. i'd say a large number of ppl are capable of living happy homosexual lives if we didn't have the social stigma attached to it. very few ppl are 100% gay throughout their life. it's not binary for 99% of the people.

My point is, like you say, whatever this quality is exactly intangible. As in, you cannot use to to make any objective decision, it's just anecdotes, opinions based on personal experiences, culture, and the like. So using such shaky measures to pass laws or whatever that affect other people's lives is wrong and discriminatory, which is what I've been trying to say all along.

What is this ? I am not using that intangible to say we should use that as a basis for laws.

I think we are on 2 different pages entirely. I am talking about the family aspect. I don't care if Gays are allowed to have kids or not. Isn't that clear ?

All I am saying is if they have kids, the kid loses out on something. That to me is a fact. There is no argument in that for me.

Right now its hard to pass laws because of the prejudice that runs deep in society and in religions..and more importantly its a political topic that gets votes this way or that.

But surely you can see so many countries are now falling in line. Its just a matter of time until majority of countries see this as defacto.

You just cant bring something like this up and expect all countries to just accept it and pass laws legalizing it etc. It's a paradigm shift. And its a political tool. Once these things even out things will be much better for that community

A good example is this thread. We are discussing this community in SL now, that's a step fwd imo. One day things will be different for them in SL too.

I'm with mugatiya on this one. It helps because I believe masculinity><femininity is the most natural form of attraction. It's the default of the nature.

But then I fully agree no one should be discriminated based on their sexual orientation or gender identity, just like you shouldn't discriminate people on race, religion, cast etc.

The National Freedom Front (NFF) today charged that the government has violated Sri Lankan law and Foreign Policy by voting against a proposal to stop the United Nations extending staff benefits to all same-sex couples at the UN General Assembly budget committee in March.

Addressing a media briefing NFF Media Spokesman Mohammed Muzammil accused the government of leading the country towards a cultural destruction while the country that is already experiencing political and economic instability due to the government's course of action.

The proposal presented by the Russian government failed at the UN budget committee to stop the UN extending staff benefits to all same-sex couples after the committee voted 80 to 43 against the proposal and 37 nations abstaining.

Mr. Muzammil said among India, Saudi Arabia, China, Iran, Egypt, Pakistan and Syria which voted in favour of Russia's proposal, Sri Lanka was the only South Asian country that opposed the proposal.

“As a country deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophy and its teachings, Sri Lanka is enriched with various cultures which have been protected for centuries. Even in the Sri Lankan Penal Code, homosexuality is a non-bailable offence and encouraging it is also an offence. But, the government has accepted homosexuality publicly. It is clear that the government has violated the country's law and trivialised our foreign policy internationally,” he charged.

The NFF Spokesman asked as to who took the decision to back homosexuality which has become a much-talked about topic in the world recently.

“However, this action indicates the government's attempts to deviate from longlasting policies of the country,” he said.

Russia’s proposal called for the withdrawal of the administrative ruling of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in July 2014 to recognise all same-sex marriages of its staff, allowing them to receive UN benefits.
