Also, if you making children overseas, make sure either you keep your SL citizenship until the kid was born or make sure you get the dual certificate before that. If not, you can’t get Sri Lankan citizenship for kids.
Feel free to ask Dual questions, visa, passport. I have some knowledge & experience.
This is not relevant to this thread so I'm moving it here myself.
Is this something that's important to you guys? I mean assuming you're not going to return to SL and raise them wherever you live, won't they pretty much be Canadian, Australian or whatever? They'd feel pretty much aliens in Sri Lanka imo if they don't grow up there.
why? It's not like it is gonna cost a hell of a lot. Also, they won't be able to own any property(if you have) parents have in SL, if they are not SL citizens. Also, won't be able to stay for longer than 90 days unless for special reason and have to get Visa and shit.
Why not have it when you could give them that luxury? what if they wanted to go live in SL when they grow up? Or work? or do bussiness? or do social service? having citizenship would defeneitly help.
I mean even if you dont wanna go back to SL, that doesn't mean your kid would not grow an appetite towards his parents birth country one day..
As parents, we try to provide them with everything. why deny them a free option they could easily have?
