When I started playing club cricket here, I don't drink the night before, even if the match is an afternoon amtch or eat anything that may force me to use portable toilet the next day in the field. If the match is a T20, starting at 8:00 I wake up early, go to the ground 1.5hr earlier at least and I have to stretch for minimum 45 mins. If I have a 50 over match, which starts at 1PM or at 2PM, I'd always have the same food. I'd have 2 sandwhich(4 slices of bred) around 10:30 consisting of 2 boiled eggs with pepper, salt, bit of mayonese, tomatoe slices, romaine salad, onion and cucumber. Before the toss, I'd have a banana with water. If it is a hot, Canadian humidex of 9.5 like weather, I'd toss a Gatorade bottle by the boundary as I'm generally fielding there, mostly on deep midwicket, sweeper area and have once in a while.
Well this is just the next level of weirdness from SW.
Are these superstitions or are you just trying to give us a sample of "a day in the life of sw"
How is it weird ? It is just a routine with superstition. Most people have some sort of routine during build up of a match. I would have just said routine, but I willingly avoid any other food before the match and ensure I have all the ingredients the night before the match. It always has to be the whole grain bread. I've taken a drive at 12:00AM few times when I forget that I don't have the bread for next day.
Gotta wait for "a day in the life of...." when Netflix picks up my special. In the end, I'd finally meet PJ, he'd break down, cry and ask for forgiveness. Will launch in 2022 Fall.
