Yes, move mate. Move to an area where there the area is infested with your folks, you will find lots of connections and almost feel like you never left. It is easier to assimilate that way. Can you take your education and get a job there ? or do you have to attend college and what not to restart ? In Canada, whether a doctor or dog catcher, you gota re-start fresh.
This is actually very good advise. I am endorsing this from experience of seeing people in the same situation. I am not familiar with Australia, but Staten Island, NY is where new Sri Lankan immigrants find their heaven and the connections to find new odd jobs to settle in when they land in the most criticized (i.e. by the Sri Lankans living outside of US & Canada), yet a so called First World nation in the world.
