This is insane, having to give in to bunch of ignorant fools but I guess sensible under the circumstances. Hope this could go ahead with a SL actor.

In his statement, Muttiah Muralitharan said that he is confident that his biopic will reach the audience, crossing all hurdles. His statement read, “I never felt discouraged whenever I faced a problem in my life. I overcome them and that’s why I am in this position. I agreed to make a biopic on me thinking that it would help aspiring cricketers. I am sure that I will cross this hurdle. Also, I am confident that this biopic will reach you. Soon, the production house will announce updates regarding 800. I will stand by them.

Even after actor Vijay Sethupathi quit the controversial movie 800, a biopic on legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralitharan, he continued to receive flak for having considered the film.
On Monday, a social media user named Rithik posted vile comments about the actor and issued rape threats against his daughter. https://www.newsbytesapp.com/timeline/entertainment/67671/319419/vijay-sethupathi-s-daughter-receives-rape-threats 10-21-2020, 04:06 AM

With all the publicity, good opportunity for someone from SL to take on this project. It's not just "groups" the entire media on Tamil Nadu news blasted him. To say that mothers of disappeared people could have been lying? Murali is from Kandy, he never lived in North or the East. Instead of shutting up, he goes on blabbered then expects something else ? 10-21-2020, 04:07 AM

Same guy posted about Dhoni's daugther earlier. He is a troll. News media have no life. 10-21-2020, 04:09 AM

He doesn't know what went on in North and East, he has no relatives, he doesn't know anymore than the vast majority of the Sinhalese people. Even Sangakkara and Jayasuriya don't open their mouth like this. Murali was well liked untill he started opening his mouth, he has been hated for sometime now in the Tamil community , he was ignored, now he is in the limelight so the "attack" is visible. This movie will not take place with particular set actor. If the movie wants to go ahead, it will have to be done by some no-name actor. Bollywood doesn't have darkskinned actors, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannadiga regional films too dont have dark skinned actors. No actor from Tamil Nadu is going to act in Murali's 800 now.My guess is if South India flops it, a Hindi movie might take place. Making light skinned people dark can be easily done with make up. FFS, Rajinikanth is extremely dark skinned, but he is made very fair by make up. Rajinikanth is only popular in South India and in rural North Indian villages. In North India, he is kind of mocked for his over the top acting. Making light skinned people look dark will look retareded. Might as well go with a SL actor, release it in SL with lower budget. 10-21-2020, 04:12 AM

I'm sure even some of the people who complain now will watch it out of curiosity. Any publicity is good publicity for a production like this. Of course, you can't expect it to be a box office hit or anything of that sort. Most sports-related movies aren't blockbusters. That's just how the industry works. The controversy wasn't around Murali. The controversy was towards Vijaysethupathi to not take the movie up. No one cares if Murali's movie comes up. No one wants Vijaysethupathi to act in it. 10-21-2020, 04:45 AM

If you read my post you quoted properly, I was specifically talking about potential bodily harm to the actor, which would only come from extremists rather than every ordinary person who is offended. 10-21-2020, 04:58 AM

Looked into Dhoni's case. It's a different moron? He was taken into police custody in a different state only a few days ago according to this.
