My view is this could be useful with young kids who watch sports and are yet to understand what racism is. When they see sportspeople do this, they might Google to find out what the hell this is or ask their parents. This might be useful to educate future generations and make things a tad better.
I think the issue is not the gesture but making it mandatory, in other words forced. These symbolic gestures and apologies are similar in that if they're forced then they become meaningless. CSA should have given players the freedom to do it or not do it and let QDK or anyone else not wanting to do it deal with it personally.
It becomes a joke when a country like India does it. India's caste system is literally encouraged by the Modi government. I saw a while ago when a TN BJP(no one respects them they are good for media coverage as a comedy material) guy said "we respect everyone, even the low caste". Like wtf ? During an election rally, he went inside a house of a "low caste" person to prove they aren't casist party. He was offered a water in a stainless steel glass by the resident, the stainless steal glass still was brand new and had price tag on it.
