Two of the three Sri Lankan athletes who were reported missing from the ongoing Commonwealth Games in England have been located, the Mirror UK reported.

West Midlands Police have confirmed that two athletes from Sri Lanka who had mysteriously disappeared in Birmingham have now been located, but a third is still missing.

A wrestler, judo star, and judo coach had not been seen since Monday. The trio had previously surrendered their passports so have been unable to leave the UK.

After they went missing, officials have now removed documents from all remaining members of the Sri Lankan team in Birmingham.

But two have now been found, with the West Midlands Police confirming in a statement: “Two people – a woman in her 30s and a man in his 40s, were reported missing on 1 Aug. Both have now been located and are no longer missing.

“Today (4 Aug), we’ve received a report of a third man, in his 20s, as missing. Inquiries are ongoing to locate him.”

The Sri Lankan team is comprised of 161 athletes and coaching staff, who were each granted standard 180-day visas by the government ahead of the Games.

Before the police confirmed the update, Sri Lankan team spokesperson Gobinath Sivarajah said: “We have asked all athletes and officials to submit their passports to our respective venue officials in all the villages after the incident.

“The police are investigating and the three cannot cross the UK borders. What has happened is really unfortunate.”

It has been feared the trio may have vanished in a bid to avoid returning to Sri Lanka, which is in the midst of its worst economic crisis.

Sri Lanka has so far claimed three medals at this year’s Games. Palitha Bandara won a silver in the men’s discus throw F44/64, while Dilanka Isuru Kumara and Yupun Abeykoon each won bronze in the men’s 55kg weightlifting and men’s 100 metres respectively. (NewsWire)
Trying to make a living as an illegal in UK is a thing ins the past, unless they can claim refugee status and get proper documents there is no point trying these old tactics. UK is heading towards a recession and home office has so many restrictions and penalties for illegal working , they will find it so hard to earn enough money to cover their living expenses without proper documentations.

Can your folks get refugee status ?
Might be trying sneak into another European country. A lot of people did that in the past. They'd end up in Italy or somewhere.
Going from UK to another European country isn't easy, they have to risk crossing the Channel via boats if they don't have schengen visa.

Even if they have a believable story to claim refugee status, home office will ship them to Ruwanada till their case gets processed.
They will get deported for the most part. They can't use economic status back home to get refugee status. The UK would also want to use them as an example so others dont pull this shit. Pretty idiotic move to be honest.
