Azam is now getting to another level . Probably not too far behind Kohli and Kane when you compare all formats .

The modern-day attacking batting didn't work and made SL fight   The SL team already has weakened bowling, 200 target is nothing for the oppositions. So the team has gone slower, but consistent attempts to push to 250, giving the bowlers some fighting chance. Or else the team will look like minnow Bangladesh of the early 2000s, crashing and burning before 35 overs. Once the players get the habit of consistently touching 250, then you can make incremental improvements in aggression.

With this sort of attitude, we won't be winning matches for the next 10 years.

How did the aggressive attitude go in the last half a decade? How many times did SL go past 200 or 250 ? in ODIS? lol You want your team to crash and burn before reaching 200 or and stumble their way to 250-260 give bowlers some fighting chance and give the opposition some little pressure?

It has to be a balance of both, while other teams are scoring 270-300 as the norm....even 300+ on most occasions than previously.....we can't lag behind by playing a conservative game.

He is # 1 in ODI ranking so Kohli no longer # 1 in ODI ( he was king for 41 mos but not anymore)

250 is nothing these days when conditions don't favor the bowlers. Those few WC matches in ENG were rare. Most ODIs are played on batting friendly tracks. You are actually embracing defeat if 250 is what you aim for in the first place. ODI totals have gone up by so much. You are better off doing 300+ once in a while even if you record a few low totals in attempts to score high. Then you can win a game here and there. SL won the last home series against WI 3-0 because they hit those high totals.
