Leaving Nissanka alone the T20 side has to be packed with power, six hitters. Asalanka can, he needs to Captain. Mendis can, can he be consistent? Kamindu can, think he should be persisted, still very early days, plus left handed.Avishka can, but, can he figure out his off stump swinging ball issue? Can be done with proper guidance.
Train our lads in power hitting starting with LPL.
SL issues are structural, training, quite frankly the politicians, mafia and money will not let it go!

One thing I’ve observed is that we’re extremely reliant on Asalanka’s power hitting to get big totals. Without him we’re nothing.

I say drop Kusal Mendis. Yes he is decent in T20, but is he really?
Plays well in dead rubbers and useless bilaterals. That’s it.
Let’s face it. Just like Ara/Arjuna, Sanga/Mahela were the symbols of Sri Lanka’s Best era; Kusal Mendis is the poster boy of SL’s weakest era as a team.
Dropping Kusal will signal a new era in the dressing room and ignite som much needed fire and enthusiasm in the players.

I'd find ways to get rid of DDS first.
DDS is forever. I wouldn't be surprised if someone in the #ThinkTank came up with the idea of how important he would be at home in 2026 because of his bowling.
Or they can give him the sheet anchor role...

Both DDS and Mendis are synonymous with failure at this point. Everyone involved from 2015 to 2019 should go.

Mendis probably is the most consistant batter in this format. Just look at the stats. He fires only on dead-rubbers and bi-laterals? Others haven't done anything even in those.
People are butt hurt because we lost to SA and Ban. Mendis is not at fault in any of the two games.

Mendis is a burden at this point. When a player is as senior as he is, you’d expect him to do a lot more to keep his place in the team. I’d rather see someone new than try the same old combinations.
Also his stats aren’t that good.
PS: people arent butt hurt because we lost to SA and Bangladesh. We’re butt hurt because we’ve been losing for years!

You can’t remove the guy who is relatively performing well and expect things to change. Way to go forward is to remove lost cases in the format and try new people. Pathum, Mendis and Asalanka should stay.
I don’t understand the logic behind saying Mendis is a burden. Dasun is a burden at this point. Didn’t do anything noticeable in the entire tournament with the bat.
