Blistering Jayasuriya & Sangakkara Counter-attack vs Australia in WC Final 07 - Regista - 11-18-2023

That six from Sangakkara, running down the ground and smashing Glenn Mcgrath over deep mid-wicket at 3:40  Scared



I watched this recently since another World Cup final is coming up. Lots of great memories from this WC.

Thanks to Jaysuriya and Sanga's counter attack, we were ahead on the run rate when the rain came. But the umpires decided to play on. Shortly after Sangakkara's wicket fell and by then, the pitch was soaking wet. Jaysuriya got out to a ball that didn't bounce and umpires stopped play a little after.

Shortly after Sangakkara's wicket fell and the umpires stopped play. But by then, the pitch was soaking wet and when play resumed Jaysuriya got out to a ball that didn't bounce.

That shows we were deprived by ICC even then.
I doubt ICC would suspend India, Aussies, ENG, and South Africa ever for anything.
I doubt an ICC umpire dare to uphold an appeal for a Time Out to a player from one of those countries.
When you are a poor person or a country, you lose powers!

This is why this Australian win in 2007 WC final hardly matters. The umpires were put under pressure by Ponting & they favoured Australia eventually. Sri Lanka were made to bat in the dark. They should have started the match on the next day.

SLC should contact other boards & start the annual tri-series. That will generate lots of interest & money will start flowing as well.

Turned that shit off after wickets started falling. Didn't see all that bad light drama.
