Does anyone know the reason for Virat Kohli's withdrawal from the first 2 tests against England. Says personal reasons but is it something else?

England have won the toss and opted to bat first. Tall left arm spinner Tom Hartley makes his debut as England play 3 front line spinners plus Joe Root. Mark Wood is their sole fat bowler. India with a more balanced attack, 3 spinners and 2 fast bowlers. Indian batting looks a bit thin without Kohli but Indian batsmen playing at home can be strong.
India: Rohit, Jaiswal, Gill, Rahul, Iyer, Jadeja, Bharat, Axar, Ashwin, Siraj, Bumrah
England: Crawley, Duckett, Pope, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Foakes, Ahmed, Wood, Hartley, Leach

Three quick wickets to India as soon as the spinners starts operating. England 60/3 from 55/0.

Root and Bairstow negotiated the spinners to take England to 108/3 at lunch on day 1. Root as usual looking comfortable against spinners and Bairstow a bit more adventurous. I guess, we could call it a shared session.

Indian spinners have struck again claiming 3 quick wickets after Root-Bairstow partnership of 61.

Stokes holding up with help from the tail, Hartley and Wood playing good supporting roles. 215/8 at tea.
