Why is the LPL organizers let people stand next to each other in the stands without the facemasks? Yes, they allow 50% of the stadium capacity, but how much money are they going to make out of that versus risking the entire nation with another Super Spreader Event?
I noticed, except for very few spectators, all others were without face masks, dancing, singing, hugging, shouting, laughing all that, Omicron and Delta must be flying around like the Bees have found flowers! The govt. should banned these kinds of mass gatherings inside or outside, otherwise the country is risking another lockdown, with curfew etc. Then, you run into more economic trouble.
This is insane! The leaders don't learn lessons from what happened after the Sinhala & Tamil New Year Celebrations of April, 2021.
When the Healthcare Systems in advanced countries like England, US and the Europe struggling to cope up with this virus, how are we going to expect our Hospitals and the Medical staff to deal with another huge wave? Having vaccinated itself is not the green pass to stay in public places without a facemask (when standing closer to each other), and the medical personnel who are making these calls in the government, should know better! They should get security guards / police to throw out any spectator who does not wear a facemask.
So, mark my word, unfortunately, if this type of behaviour is to continue in public places, Sri Lanka is going to face another huge Covid wave. Then, having more lockdowns or allow people to die with crowded hospitals, is a matter for the government to decide!
Yea there is no need to invite disaster. Omi is spreading faster than any other variant.
Any idea if they check if you're vaccinated or not before being let into the ground?
Ravin Wickramaratne in the interview posted on the previous page says all spectators are checked for their vaccination status before they enter the ground.
