Are we talking about the best batter or best team? Individual batting performances and team wins are two different things.
If you want to rate a batter by team wins, you could call Ponting the greatest of post-1990 because he played in a team that won series at home and away against most of the top 6-7 sides. 06-16-2023, 05:39 AM
Yeah, we were talking about Smith's runs and average in test wins he has played.

A post from 2018. Looks like he has maintained that range

He had hundreds everywhere apart from UAE (highest score 98) and averaged 40+ in every country when I checked his record about a year ago. Away average was around 55. He did all that inside his first 55 Tests by the age of 28. That is mighty impressive and he would finish as the best bat of post-2000 even if he averaged below 60 for the rest of his career. 06-16-2023, 05:46 AM

I cleared that a while ago, Sachin's runs didn't win India any test series in Australia & South Africa. They came close twice but couldn't cross the line. So just like Sachin, Smith's runs count for little as they haven't transpired in test series wins in India, England, South Africa & Sri Lanka. |
