Though it may be different for a T20 world cup.
The Lord's chairman in some interview said ODI's should only be played in world cups from now on. Instead of worrying about the death of test cricket, ODI is what people should be worried about. 10-12-2023, 11:26 AM

The bottom line is, BCCI has screwed the WC.

Screwed match attendance.
Still doing well in tv/digital viewership which is what it actually cares about, and what actually determines the popularity of a game. I personally wouldn't sit in 34 degree weather to see a 100 over match, but that's just me. The Indian public is finally being sensible. And even better are the Asian games viewership numbers which means there are other sports, beyond cricket people give a damn about finally. First tIme India crossed the 100 medal barrier. 10-12-2023, 11:37 AM

I knew we were highly likely to lose this match, with our bowling attack even with 345, so I am not surprised at the loss at all. Those few runs at the end, where Dasun batted with a strike rate of 60 clearly hampered us. 360 could have been defended in that game, however with Matheesh pathirana even that was at risk. Pakistan needed like 23 from last 3 overs. Matheesha gave like 21 runs in 47th over, so it feels like Pakistan won easily. If Sri Lanka scored 360 and lost the match, I would find it very hard to fathom. However scoring 345, with last 2 overs going for like 5 runs, I knew we lost the match there. I mean even in southafrica vs sri lanka match, Sri Lanka could have won the match if we restricted south africa to 345, as we scored 320 with like 6 overs to spare. So in these very flat pitches it is really crucial the amount of runs you get above 350, as that is what puts you above the par score. Less than 350 with a piss poor bowling attack you were always going to lose. DDS and Dasun Shanka must be the worst finishers ever in an ODI game. Will they be bold enough to make DDS opener and make Kusal Perera play at number 6. He made his ODI debut there and played well. Kusal Perera plays well he has an objective, with no objective he plays like a maniac. However I'm no longer a big fan of him. Kusal's positon, DDS and Dasun's position will need to be heavily analysed and suitable replacements found after this world cup. 10-12-2023, 11:40 AM

Cummins gets a wicket with an off cutter. Taking pace off..
I wish SL boys were taking notes. They’re probably busy getting new tattoos 10-12-2023, 11:53 AM

Even if they take note, no one to execute it - Matheesha Pathirana bowls all over the place - Dilshan Madushanka concentrates mainly on swinging the ball back to the right hander - Dasun shanaka too slow to bowl the cutter - Only Chamika can utilise it well, he is not playing. |
