The minister recently appointed an International Sports Coordination Committee but the ICC refused to meet them saying they will only talk to them if they are ratified by SLC. Do you seriously think ICC will spend time listening a bunch of former players. ICC only recognizes the elected body. Sidath has been trying that for a long time. ICC is useless. That's why they tried the petition. As per the constitution the SLC AGM will have 147 votes. The breakdown reads as – Controling Clubs 29 x 2 = 58. Affiliated Clubs 23 x 1 = 23. Provincial Associations 5 x 2 = 10. District associations 22 x 2 = 44 and Associations 6 x 2 = 12.

It almost seems as if they are not accountable to anyone in the country, yet they are in charge of running the most popular national sport. Like the CEO of company showing poor returns year after year; when there is clearly a need to downsize and re-strategise; who is not accountable to shareholders at all. Wrt Sidath: good on him for trying, but he is just one man. ALL former national cricketers should band together and write a petition to the ICC; demand to be heard - make a strong case for why constitutional change is needed; not a political issue, it is ultimately for the betterment of cricket in the country. Do this one thing for the country. 10-24-2023, 05:03 AM

The best SL can expect from ICC is a window of 6 or 12 months to change the constitution. They did provide that a few times. SL couldn't get the job done.

In the end, we circle back to this
https://www.slcricketfans.com/showthread.php?tid=1366&pid=299216#pid299216 Looks like only the President of the country can do it using his executive powers. 10-24-2023, 05:52 AM

You could try something like "occupy SLC" and see where that gets you We've noted down everything that needs to change with the SLC for 10-15 years on multiple forums now. I've spoken to Sidath W etc personally about what needs to change. There was a point where we thought he would take this all the way but then everything just goes into the void and we never hear anything. SLC is just a microcosm of SL at large and how institutions operate in that country. SLC can't and never will be an exception. 10-24-2023, 07:09 AM
