This is because if you discover a guy hitting 145 km/h and he is going straight the national academy, same with spinners that turn like Murali and Warne. Good batsmen don't go unnoticed. They often get discovered when they are like 12-13-14 and chosen to play decent level club cricket. Also the facilities and access to coaching isn't all that good in rural areas so most don't even get to learn batting.

Yea batters to get noticed typically need to be putting up a performance

That usually happens in some sort of organised league or competition.

No one is gonna care if some kid can whack a tennis ball in a park but if some guy is super quick or turns the ball a mile naturally they can get noticed and they can get fast tracked into the system.

I am complaining because Mendis hasn't improved after all these years but I will keep him in the short-term until we settle on a better combination.

You keep shifting goal posts, started with players found outside the system. Now you talk of batsmen after I gave a precedent.  I said players and I gave a name as an example. This is how you always keep shifting goal posts. Go find batsmen yourself, not going to help you.

Where are the stats that indicate Mendis has not improved? Last 3 years he`s been averaging highest in his career barring 2018. He`s has substantial socres against good sides in those years too.

LOL your initial comment was that there may be good batters outside the domestic system. Now I`m asking you for a precedent for that. You have not given a single one. LOL

I gave these stats earlier as well. Since 2022, Mendis average 25 at a SR of 125 against the top 6. Where is the improvement? He has always scored against lowly placed teams and associates.
