It wasn't dominance in the sense he blasted Murali out of the park. It was the way in which he had complete control of the battle, I think he gave one caught-behind opportunity really early in the very first WI innings of the series (which our Lord Santa spilled ), and that was about it. After that he didn't really give any chances, and easily picked Murali. It was just mastering Murali 101.

Yea this is what we mean. Not that he sent Murali to the moon or something.
He completely nullified Murali..hence dominating him.
He is the best imo also because as we've said he was just so immense when compared to the rest of the batting - barring Sarwan ... that is pretty rare
It wasn't always smooth sailing. Lara said this in an interview - he had to work a lot to get through the initial spells by Murali. His effort in that series was exceptional. It's likely to remain the greatest series performance by a visiting bat in SL. Sehwag was just a butcher from the outset. This is why Sehwag's SR against SL is 99.8 and Lara's 57. Just wanted to say that Sehwag's ability to treat a bowler of that caliber like a net bowler was amazing. Murali was struggling with a groin injury since 2009 NZ Test though. Even Gilchrist was rather subdued by his standards v SL. He had said recently that he couldn't pick Murali for a while.
Sehwag willl attack any bowler from the outset and put massive pressure on the opposition.Thats why I rate him extremely highly as an opener. There isnt a player who has a SR so high

Lara was lucky against Vass in the series. He took 20 odd wickets. Lara was not given out (twice) on 90’s against Vass when he was clearly out LBW. Once on 99 if i am correct. Remeber watching this series ball-by-ball.
Lara dominated Murali as well. Made him a very little threat comparing to how Shewag batted, and still hit some superb over the bowlers head sixers like only Lara & Darren Bravo could do.
Shewag took his chances against Murali.
Other guys dominated Murali to an extent was Afridi. That is in ODI’s. But Murali had the better of him most of the time.

Vaas was brilliant in that series. Took 26 wickets while Murali took 24. He took 14 wickets in the final SSC Test which, I believe, is still the best bowling performance by a fast bowler in the subcontinent. We won that Test only because of his effort for Lara completely nullified Murali in that Test. I remember Lara was refusing singles against Murali even with top order batsmen at the other end; keeping strike against Murali all to himself.
Vaas had hit a real purple patch and in the very next match took 8-19 (which I believe is still the world record) against Zim in an ODI. Such a shame Vaas' 14 wicket haul isn't on Youtube.
