Chandimal, 3D, Tharanga.....maybe he just got figuredout. When players starts getting noticed, teams will try to figure them out. That day will come to Avishka as well but hoping Avishka adapts and excel through. We don't want another Crapu. What did he say ? Did I miss something he said ? 07-10-2019, 12:12 PM

Pls open that mendis and dds average watch. I always love to see how excited Lankan fans get about these substandard batsmen who wont make a C team in a top nation

We have tried everyone in recent times and ended up taking Thiri to the WC! Here's a 21 year old making an impression at the international level. Footwork or not my call is just play him regardless. If he come's off he could be a match winner. The alternate is to keep playing musical chairs with Thiri and others and I don't see a match winner there.

Can hit through the line but opposing bowlers will easily work him out unless he keeps working on his batting. I don't understand this "no footwork argument". It is this lack of footwork that makes him the player he is. Everyone says Virender Sehwag has lack of footwork, but it is this lack of footwork which gives him the power and strong base to hit big shots. If Virender Sehwag had perfect footwork he would not be the same special player he is, and he would be another ordinary player. Likewise it is this lack of footwork that gives Avishka the strong base to hit the shots he does, so he doesn't have to do major technical adjustments, just work hard and try to improve on his innings building skills. Sehwag compromised his footwork for more power, while Dravid has great foot work but not much power. However they both can score runs, that is what matters at the end of the day. 07-11-2019, 01:40 PM
Sehwag had very good hand eye coordination and Avishka also seemed to have it but it's too early to say that alone will make him successful on the longer run.

Lack of footwork , or lack of technique is ok as long as you have a great eye, Sana ,Sehwag, Amla etc are players like that but these are legends of the game, you don't see many playing like that , and most people often get in to trouble with time.
Too early to judge, his real test starts when other teams lay plans for his lack of footwork.technique , time will tell. 07-11-2019, 02:57 PM
Sana and Sehwag were strong on the off side. They hit sixes over point. That's real power. They didn't need footwork to play like that. Avishka doesn't seem to be that strong when it's wide to get away with no footwork. That's what I meant. Even Sanga and other commentators mentioned this. He is very good at stand and deliver when it's around middle/leg.
