Watching Eng in these 2 tests, there is definitely a tangible vibe that is different under Stokes and BMac. Stokes has brought a very approachable approach and the mindset is always - "we can win from anywhere or we will die trying". BMac and Stokes are probably 2 people who are very aligned in their approaches to cricket so while the appointment feels left field, it kind of feels like the ECB has made these 2 appointments with the 2 respective people at the helm in mind.
Eng look to be enjoying their time out in the middle a lot more. Root looks happier. All the players just genuinely look happy.
I am very intriguied to see how things pan out across the summer. SA are kind of resurgent but also a bit weak in the top order. Their bowling lineup is very good. Will be good to see all of this plays out in the next 2-4 years. If this is what we can expect from the Stokes/Bmac Era, then my word it is going to be one hell of a ride for all of us.
