You need to understand the background of selectors. Most of them were sidelined in favor of younger players. Because of this, I can see them backing older players (Vandersay, Akila etc). With a WC in the sight, this doesn't sound like a bad strategy. They have also given chances to younger players - which is great.

I'm sorry, but if they carry these sort of personal grudges they should be fired on the spot. We need selectors that remain objective and fair. Not someone with biases towards either younger or older players.

We are only playing a T20 WC in few months, not a ODI WC, right?
But, these tours that we engage in have both T20 and ODI series.

As for Vandersay, I always support players who give their hearts out for your team, it does not matter if a bowler did that as a batsman, or a batsman did that as a bowler.  When I pointed this out in justifying Asitha Fernadon's selection to the ODI team, because he played a cameo in some Asia Cup match as the last man and helped beat us Bangla, PJ laughed at me, saying his job is to bowl, not bat.  This happened before the selectors picked Asitha for the ODI team recently, but I am sure Pijja would now ask for proof of that post that I am referring to

In the same manner, Vandersay stayed with Chameera and fought out a pressure situation to win us a ODI match in one of the recent series.  I cannot remember exactly which match that was (because I don't go after Stats), but if a player performs that way be it with the bat or bowl, I would not forget it. Such players need to be given a chance over an equaling performing other competitors who have not displayed such mental strength at all, because these players have shown their fighting capabilities like the way Australian tail-enders always do.

Issue is regarding T20 selection noh?

All your arguments are based on a performance in one match. If you closely look at matches played, almost every player would have had at least one match winning performance during his career. You can't select players based on such a small evidence.

BS! My point is one match or 100 matches, you have to read the player's mental game not just the physical performance like how much he contributed to that partnership. You are unable to do that, so you bring up BS!
When I said the same about Asitha playing in ODI's you laughed at me. Don't say you did not, you did using your own BS arguments. Then, when they gave Asitha to play, he did really well with bowling. His unexpected bouncers were troublesome for those Afghan batsmen, because the guy uses his brain. I am saying the same thing of Vandersay, but you don't see it now, because you cannot read a player's mind game. Just admit that and move on...

LOL, why are you getting so raved up? Can't take a different opinion? Mental game can't be established after one or two performances, it has to be consistent.

Giving a different opinion is not laughing at you. You have this weird mentality. Asitha did bowl well against AFG but that has to be consistent for me to believe he will do well in white ball formats. I will be the first to applaud him if he can be consistent, that will be a great asset to our white ball bowling unit.

Asitha is an absolute tailender. I think Vandersay is expected to contribute a bit with the bat. Similar to Herath.

Agreed tbh. But I see no proof of there being bias because the selectors were sidelined. Unless someone wants to enlighten me. But point is Akila and Vandersay arent completely left-field selections. Both have been solid in domestic albeit in list A cricket. And as dubious as that as to me, it's not like we`ve had a t20 comp recently. Why is that again? Why not one of those nsl tourneys additional to LPL?

I've mentioned this before, I think Asitha is probably the worst batter in history of SL along with Lahiru Gamage.

Yeah, after reflecting a bit more I admit that I was a bit soon to speak. They've done a good job in picking players on domestic merit so far. That seems to be their main policy.
