We  have like 6 sinhalese in our clubs. 2 of them have kids none of them speak to their kids in Sinhalese. There is a younger Sinhala kid he only speaks in English to his dad and doesn't speak Sinhala at all. So I guess sense of community is stronger among Tamils than Sinhalese people so that could have an impact.

Cousin-marriage is a weird phenomenon, it didn't exist 60+ years earlier. Then it kind of came in late 70s till mid 2000s. In Tamil Nadu villages it normal, not in SL and Malaysia. Also the trend varies from place to place, family to family. I know that one of my distant relative married his cousin. But you don't see kids come out koo-koo in cousin-marriages among Tamils/South Indians compared to Pakistanis.  Basically the siblings that set up the arranged marriage with their kids cannot be same gender. So two brothers or two sisters can't have their children marry each others. That is a big no-no.
