I’m sure the players and their lawyers know what they are doing
They are temporarily greenlighting the tour so they get what they were after once the tour is done.
Hopefully both parties can come to an understand but this stand off seems to have damaged SLC rep more than players. They are coming off terribly here IMO
Arthur and co need to really work this out or this is going to end up in a total clusterfuck.
It's not just Arthur, Moody, Arvind, and few others who seem to be in on it as well. I'm not siding with SLC at all, it's that players don't seem bright enough. Any good lawyer would tell you not to say anything like "we won't boycott the tour" or something stupid like that. Now SLC has 0 pressure, I doubt SLC cares about their reputation, pretty sure when they came up with this, they would have known that something like this would occur.
I doubt England at this point care about which team SL fields, the world has moved on, most of the guys I play cricket with aren't from SL, they used to ask me wtf happened earlier, over the last 3-4 years, no one ever mentions SL in any sort of cricket comment. The younger kids at the academy would be surprised if SL beats up India. Let's understand that 2015 WC was 6 years ago. Most of your life may roughly-loosely revolve around people that care about SL cricket, so you may still think the world cares, but not really, the world has moved on. For ECB, this current SL team and the SL Navy team that got whooped few weeks ago are all the same to them. Teams like SA, NZ, WI and Bangladesh will start soon hesitating to host SL at home due to loss of revenue. I was shocked to find out few years ago that SLC looses money on hosting WI unless it's T20. Those days aren't far away if this continues.
