Just another crazy day's test cricket. Mind boggling really.
I think Stokes played it right and smart at the start. The ball was swinging and if he had just decided to hang around, one would have eventually got him out. Him and Bairstow both were successful in taking the attack back to New Zealand. For a second there, they couldn't figure out what hit them. The pair took a lot of the shine off the ball, and was just minutes away from the bowling change, when Stokes played that shot off Wagner. He miscalculated there. Had he just curbed it a bit there, he could have also gone on to a big score. There could have been an element of - as he put in his own words for this third test (with the series already won) - they are in the entertainment business and also just really wanting to hammer in their new philosophy into the team with his own actions. But guess he got a bit carried away and I hope Stokes just doesn't sacrifice his batting every time like that. He's a far better batsman to do that. Bairstow played it exactly how they've been talking about. Attacked and then settled down a bit ( that too at a rapid pace) and then picked up again with Overton. It's been amazing viewing. I really hope this English team can find the template that works for their style in the subcontinent too. They are certainly bringing the sexy back playing this way - both with the bat and ball. PS - It was crazy how the momentum shifted with NZ being so on top and suddenly its like this wave hit them. Bonkers cricket. And how about those celebrations from the dressing room when Bairstow got his ton. So fun!
I didn't see the light until I was already a man and by then it was nothing to me but blinding.

Some of the Bhanu fans should now understand why they went for Bairstow instead of Lord Bhanu. That was one day style hitting. And Overton batted with a lot of power and some great shots. He made it look so easy. 06-24-2022, 10:49 PM

How about it from Overton??? Picked as a frontline bowler - 90mph. At the end of second day's play - he's closing in on a debut century having dug the team out of a massive hole. That too in the most insane manner imaginable.

That was some fightback from Bairstow and Overton and scoring at 5.6 rpo after being 55/6 was exceptional.
