If the BCCI invites them boards are not going to reject the offers because of the Moola it will generate for them. Beside this is actually the status quo at the moment ..boards organising bi-lateral and maybe a tri-nations etc..

BCCI certainly needs to take the deal for the larger interest - and I think they will do that too because who is currently leading them and all the issues they have domesticaly with Lodha etc.

If they were to do that they would pretty much be jumping ship from ICC to BCCI wouldn't it. As the voting shows other boards no longer trust BCCI after the Big 3 fiasco and all the empty promises they have made over the years.

Well I don't see it as jumping any ship unless the ICC says they will ban anyone who plays in BCCI organised tournaments. ICC will never do that because of the backlash it will cause with the players.

New Delhi: Star India, the broadcast giants who telecast all International Cricket Council tournaments in India and other South Asian countries, has written a letter to the governing body, expressing concern over India's participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Speaking to Cricketnext, a senior official of Star Sports confirmed that that the host broadcaster had indeed raised concern over the ongoing tussle between the ICC and the Indian cricket board.

"Yes a letter has gone to the ICC from from our side because you must realise that the Champions Trophy is round the corner and a conclusion must be reached," the official said.

In the event of India's pull out from the showpiece event, the broadcaster is expected to feel the heat as viewership could take a massive hit. This is also a major cause of worry for the advertisers, who have already booked prime slot for the event, which begins on June 1.

India are supposed to take on Pakistan in their first match on June 4. The Board of Controal for Cricket in India has already missed the deadline for announcing the squad for the tournament.

Several members of the BCCI are adamant about pulling out of the tournament in the wake of the new reveue model passed by the ICC, which has left the Indian cricket board with a diminished share.

The COA though has advised the board members to take a unanimous stand on the issue and have also said that they could move the court if they find BCCI's stand to be against the interest of Indian cricket.

PCB and Pakis might just have BCCI's ass here.

With them sending legal notice for $60 million and kilings at the border, hopefully BCCI will be able to back CoA and SC into a corner.

I've heard boards will pull IPL players if BCCI pulls out of CT.

Hoping for a full blown meltdown!
Good to know that CR is still alive and kicking. Why you always gotta blow every thing up tho. If you need a hug just say it.

Well if things do actually come to ahead somewhere along the line with BCCI surely ICC/ECB/CA won't just sit back and let BCCI dictate terms. They have certainly not backed down one bit this time around.
CoA tells BCCI to select Champions Trophy squad 'immediately'

Quote:"There has been more than enough negativity surrounding Team India's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy and the sooner the same is put to rest the better," the CoA told BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary, in an email sent on Thursday.

"You are aware that the squad representing India at the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 was to be submitted by 25th April 2017 but the squad has not even been selected as yet. Please convene a meeting of the selection committee for selecting the squad immediately. The squad can then be submitted to the ICC without prejudice to BCCI's legal rights."

A segment of the BCCI, unhappy with the cut in its revenue from the ICC, wants to revoke the Members Participation Agreement (MPA), which would mean India missing every ICC tournament in the current rights cycle starting form the 2017 Champions Trophy to the 2023 World Cup.

"The BCCI appears to have lost sight of the fact that it attained a pre-eminent position in the ICC not by a combative approach but by building consensus and ensuring a positive image, including by helping other cricket boards in their time of need."

The CoA also warned the BCCI that any "drastic steps" taken at the SGM could lead to the Supreme Court getting involved in the matter.
So sanity prevails in the end. It's not like BCCI had any other viable option really. India needs international cricket just as much as the rest needs India.

Uncertainty ends, India confirmed to play

Quote:The Champions Trophy will feature its defending champions, after the BCCI unanimously decided on Sunday that India will play in England. The squad for the tournament, which India won in 2013 also in England, will be named on Monday, May 8.

"The BCCI SGM unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy" the board's statement said.

"I told them, whenever you take an action think three steps ahead," CoA chairman Vinod Rai told ESPNcricinfo. "What if the ICC had not bothered about the BCCI notice, what would you have done? Withdraw your team? You think the nation would permit you to withdraw your team? "I told them India would be in danger of not playing any international cricket for eight years."

ESPNcricinfo learned that former BCCI president N Srinivasan, who joined the SGM via a video call, was in favour of sending the notice, though he was against India pulling out of the Champions Trophy. BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry was also reportedly in favour of the notice being sent.

However, Niranjan Shah of the Saurashtra Cricket Association, Rajeev Shukla of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, and Apte were opposed to the move. They said the BCCI could not negotiate after sending the notice. One of the members at the SGM said Srinivasan said the BCCI was not using its clout at the ICC. However, Amitabh Choudhary, who was in Dubai last month, said he felt the BCCI did not enjoy the same clout it once did.

Besides it appears that BCCI didn't have a legal leg to stand on either despite all the threats.

Quote:BCCI on weak legal ground

Documents HT have accessed suggest BCCI is on weak legal ground. Late in April, the advice of Herbert Smith Freehills, a law firm headquartered in London, was sought about BCCI’s rights under Members Participation Agreement (MPA), exercising which the BCCI hawks have threatened to pull out of ICC events like Champions Trophy.

It has said BCCI has limited options to prevent ICC from amending the 2014 constitution (that gave India a larger share in revenue and governance). At best, BCCI can approach the MPA Dispute Resolution Committee for damages.

If the law firm’s assessment is correct, then confrontation will only lead to more embarrassment.
The Champions Trophy could be scrapped to make way for an expanded World T20, says International Cricket Council chief executive David Richardson.

The future of the tournament is at risk as the ICC prepares to hold its annual conference in London on the back of a successful eighth edition, won by Pakistan after a final against India with an estimated viewing audience in the hundreds of millions.

So $405m was the right number to make India stay

All it took was throwing $112m more at them. Easy peaasy

Under this model, approved by the ICC Board on Thursday in London during the ICC's AGM, the BCCI will now receive US$405 million, $112 million more than in the original model, which was passed by nine votes to one in Dubai in April.

Well done to ICC stood strong and called BCCI's bluff. The $570 mil they were demanding was beyond ridiculous.
