No, that means you can't drag the rope in more than 10 yards unless the playing area of the ground is 90 yards. They can drag it in more than 10 yards in grounds like Hambantota and MCG. It would be maximum 10 yards for SSC.

is there a minimum distance from the centre of the pitch to boundary rope?

Yeah, straight boundaries 70 yards and square 65 according to ICC regulations for Test cricket. Maximum size 90 yards.
AUS is the best place for bowlers if we're talking about the size of boundaries. You see batsmen run 3 for good shots that easily go for 4 in other countries thanks to the size of the grounds.

Running 4 here

End of the road for Thilanga's ambitions......

http://www.sundaytimes.lk/181202/sports/thilanga-stumped-by-iccs-latest-move-323047.html

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made it mandatory for anybody wishing to join its Board of Directors to not have any links with the betting or gaming industry.

This requirement was earlier only in the body’s Code of Ethics. But in a recent move, the ICC has made it a part of its mandatory Eligibility Criteria for the Board of Directors.

“As part of a regular review of policies and procedures, we have refreshed the Director Eligibility Criteria so that it mirrors our Code of Ethics and this includes (along with lots of other criteria) no association (directly or indirectly/them or immediate family) with any betting organisation,” a source from the ICC confirmed.

The changes were approved at the last ICC Board meeting held in October in Singapore and will now bar its members from nominating as Director anyone with links to the gaming industry.

This comes in the wake of a recent increase incidents of match-fixing. The ICC has charged three Sri Lankan former cricketers for breaching its anti-corruption code. They now face sanctions.

The new rule will be a significant blow to former Sri Lanka Cricket President Thilanga Sumathipala who is anticipating re-election to the post at the forthcoming cricket elections. A legislator in Sri Lanka Parliament, has repeatedly denied any involvement in gambling but comes from a family that owns one of the country’s leading betting businesses, Sporting Star.

The ICC Code of Ethics Section 2.6.1 says: “An Official may not have a business association (whether direct or indirect) or enter into any business arrangement (whether formal or informal) with any Betting Organisation that involves the payment of any monies to or by, or the conferring of any benefit(s) or advantage(s) upon or by, the Official, either directly or indirectly, as a result of such association or arrangement unless such association or arrangement is disclosed to, and recorded and approved by, the Ethics Officer”.

Section 2.6.2 reads “It is not permitted, and an Official shall be in breach of this Code if, any member of the Official’s immediate family (being a spouse, parent, sibling, son or daughter, or son or daughter-in-law) has a controlling interest in a Betting Organisation, a substantial relationship with a Betting Organisation, or is employed in the day-to-day operational control of a Betting Organisation.

The election of office bearers to Sri Lanka Cricket likely to be held in February.

Manu Sawhney, a veteran media professional, has been appointed the next chief executive officer of ICC. Sawhney will join the organisation in February and take formal charge of his position in July, once incumbent David Richardson steps down following the World Cup.

Indian-born Sawhney was the unanimous choice of the nomination committee, which met in London this week to finalise the pick from a shortlist of four candidates. On Tuesday, the ICC Board ratified Sawhney's appointment although his contract period has not yet been revealed. ESPNcricinfo understands none of the four was from within the field of cricket, in keeping with the ICC's preference when it advertised for the job. Sawhney is, in that sense, a significant break from recent ICC tradition as all his predecessors this century have been involved in cricket administration before taking up the ICC role.

Sawhney came to prominence during a 17-year long career at ESPN-Star Sports (ESS), where he rose to become managing director. It was in his time with the company that ESS sealed the broadcasting deal for global ICC events in the 2007-15 cycle. Sawhney then moved on to Singapore Sports Hub, where he worked as CEO and still remains a non-executive director. He also sits on the audit committee of Manchester United Sports Ltd.

He resigned from Singapore Sports Hub in May 2017, soon after the emergence of a 26-page anonymous complaint was sent to SportsHub Pte Ltd (SHPL), the consortium that runs Singapore Sports Hub. A report in the Singapore-based Straits Times from May 2017 said that Sawhney went on a leave of absence after the complaint, but the SHPL board, after conducting an investigation, found that no action was warranted.

"The allegations in the poison pen letter are false and mischievous," Sawhney said in a statement at the time. "I'm glad the board has concluded its investigation and decided that no action is warranted. With that conclusion, I feel able to move on."

ESPNcricinfo understands this was thought to be "a non-issue" for the ICC, given that the investigation found the complaint to be unfounded.*

ICC chairman Shashank Manohar acknowledged Sawhney's strengths, saying his familiarity with the commercial side of sport fit in with the overall vision of the global governing body. "He has proven success in a number of leadership roles in both sport and broadcasting," Manohar said in a media release. "He is a strategic thinker and understands the cricket landscape and its complexities."

Talking on his new role, Sawhney said he was joining ICC at a time when it had set itself an "ambitious growth strategy" and was looking forward to helping "propel the sport forward into a period of significant and sustained global growth in the coming years".

Congratulations and well done to Kumar Dharmasena for winning the ICC Umpire of the Year award for the second time.

Kumar Dharmasena was voted as Umpire of the Year by international captains and ICC Match Referees, winning the David Shepherd Trophy for the second time.

Dharmasena hoped this award would inspire other Sri Lanka officials: “It has been a very satisfying year for me and this award from the ICC is a great honour and privilege. This comes six years after I was first named for the award and will inspire me to keep doing the job I love so much. I have always been passionate about cricket, both as a player and an umpire and look forward to keep working hard and challenging myself in order to meet the demands of this great game.

“I would like to thank my wife for being the strength behind my achievements and also my kids for their support and understanding. I would like to thank Mr. Peter Manuel, my coach, for his guidance from the start of my umpiring career, together with all the other coaches from ICC and Sri Lanka Cricket. I take this opportunity to thank all my fellow colleagues for all the encouragement and support over the years, without which this would not have been possible.”

Rishabh Pant keeper? Lol wtf.

That guy keeps missing straightforward chances. Easily the worst keeper out of the Test teams(teams that play often). This is a timely example of how ICC is sucking up to India
