Lot of uncapped. You can go check. Rahane`s actually been bullying lower tier teams such as Assam and stuff so thats not even accurate to his actual ability. Indian management hve messed this up badly. With more analysis looks like Rahane got picked cuz hes the only capped player in domestic circles but seriously, he averages twenty last year lol. Kohli, Pujara and Rahane is not a pretty sight. Rahane averages like twenty in england iirc

Yeah, Rahane hasn't done well in England and he played only 2 tests last year against SA where he averaged 17. His average in 2021 was also a poor 20 in 13 tests. Poor form was the reason he got dropped. Rahul's done better in England but his average in tests in 2022/23 is around 15 in 6 tests. I guess they picked Rahane on experience.

Rahane is the ideal candidate for the #5 spot, with Shreyas & Pant out of 11, India need experience in the middle. Though he made those Ranji hundreds against 2nd tier teams, he has got back the form & confidence that was missing from his game. Plus he plays his best against the Aussies, captained India to 2020-21 series win, last 100 vs Australia at the MCG.

Rahane at 5, Rahul at 6 with Jadeja at 7 & Thakur/Ashwin at 8 will add depth to Indian batting on a bouncy deck at the Oval.
