Cricket is a team game and Smith's or Sachin's runs alone isn't enough to win games for the team. What matters is the contribution these individuals have made to the team and that has to be recognised.

I cleared that a while ago, Sachin's runs didn't win India any test series in Australia & South Africa. They came close twice but couldn't cross the line.

So just like Sachin, Smith's runs count for little as they haven't transpired in test series wins in India, England, South Africa & Sri Lanka.

Really stupid way to look at things.How can a batsman win a test match?only way to win is to have a good bowling attack to take 10 wickets.

Exactly my point, Smith's average side is yet to win test series in tough conditions, though they did very well beating a half strength Indian team last week at WTC final.
