263? this match doesn't go under T20(FC)?? Wonder this is the highest score. I thought our 260 in T20I is the highest ever.

Our record 260 was broken by Australia against us at Pallekele in 2016 scoring 263/3. The highest t20 domestic total is 263/5 by RCB against Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL season when Chris Gayle scored an unbeaten 175. MAS total of 263/3 equals that record. The highest t20 SL domestic record was held by SSC, scoring 251/6 against Saracens in 2016 where Shanaka scored 123 in just 46 balls including 16 sixes.
Mercantile matches don't have List A/T20 status.

ok. that's what i thought.

BTW Dilshan lost weight from the last time saw him.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is all set to begin the 2017/18 domestic season on 1st of December with the Premier League ‘Tier A’ tournament being kicked off at six venues.

Sinhalese Sports Club won the Premier League ‘Tier A’ Tournament 2016/17 while Galle Cricket Club ended at the bottom and was demoted to Premier League Tier B while Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club, who topped the points table of the Tier B tournament after the verdict given after the alleged Panadura-Kalutara match fixing fiasco, rose to Tier A.

The Tier A competition which consists of 14 clubs have been divided into two groups with each team scheduled to play six games. The top four teams from each group will then qualify for the Super Eight Tournament which will most likely be conducted as four-day games. The lowest ranked six teams in the group stage will play for the Plate Championship with the bottom-ranked team set to face relegation.

All 10 teams in Tier B will play each other starting from the third week of December and after nine weeks of action, the team with the most points will be crowned champions, earning a promotion to the top tier next season.

With all 24 teams once again gaining first-class status, approximately 450-500 cricketers will be in action in all three formats representing their clubs.

The 50-over tournament and T20 tournament will have a similar structure of club tournament first, provincial tournament second with the only exception being all 24 club teams will be divided into four groups of six teams before determining the winners.

“Unlike previous years, we will be first playing red-ball cricket (first class) followed by white-ball cricket (list A). We do not want to switch from one format to other in a haphazard manner. This will enable players to have a better focus.” K. Mathivanan, SLC Vice President in charge of domestic cricket said.

FIXTURES

The four-team Super Provincial tournament which is going to be the top attraction in the upcoming 2017/18 season will feature only the top 60-65 cricketers, the cream of Sri Lanka Cricket. The players will be picked by the national selectors based on their performances during the club tournament.

They will be grouped into the four teams—Colombo (Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara), Galle (Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Monaragala, Ratnapura and Badulla), Kandy (Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle) and Dambulla (Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Mannar, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Matale) based on their place of birth, school attended and current place of work.

One of the most interesting additions is the introduction of a pink-ball competition during the provincial four-day tournament, with at least one game to be played under lights per team.

SLC has previously held provincial tournaments that sought to concentrate domestic talent. The continuity in such tournaments has been the long-lasting problem. Last season, the provincial four-day tournament was replaced by a 50-over tournament to prepare players for the Champions Trophy.

The below aspects will play a major role in uplifting the standards of Sri Lanka domestic cricket this season.

Pitches

All the grounds and clubs have been given world-class rollers and other equipment in order to help prepare quality surfaces. But, the main question would be, will the clubs prepare sporting pitches or opt to base the pitch on the strengths of their bowlers in order to win at all costs?

Last season, 14 out of the top 15 wicket-takers in the Premier League Tournament were spinners. How can Sri Lanka produce good fast bowlers if the club matches are played on rank turners? SLC must be vigilant about the surfaces produced if Sri Lanka has any hope of producing a good all-round team.

Crowd Attendance

Sri Lanka’s domestic matches go unnoticed mostly because it is less-glamourous than many other domestic set-ups around the world, ineffective marketing strategies and maybe for the lack of competitiveness as well, hence there are more ground staff than spectators watching the local matches.

SLC must work with the respective clubs to build large-scale online and offline campaigns and grow fanbases and culture to enable more engagement with the fans. Why do thousands go and watch school’s big matches? Simply because of the loyalty to their schools and the carnival atmosphere. It is a near impossible task to match that but at least a few hundred spectators in attendance would make a world of difference to the local domestic circuit.

Professionalism

In comparison to all Test playing nations, the local cricketers in Sri Lanka must be some of the least paid professionals and thus close to 100 players have once again left for Australia this year in pursuit of more lucrative deals instead of playing the Tier A & B tournaments.

The rich clubs in Colombo has secured plenty of key players by giving separate contracts for the season but what happens to the clubs which do not have the proper financial assistance? SLC must make sure that all the players from the 24 clubs earn enough money to make a living out of cricket.

Teams getting ready for for the Premier League starting next weekend.

Sri Lanka Cricket has finalised all arrangements to conduct the first top division domestic cricket tournament the Premier League tournament which is scheduled to get underway from December 1 with six matches being scheduled to be played in venues around the metropolis.

With the cream of cricketers bound to represent the top playing clubs there is no doubt that competition will be fierce due to the fact that some of the players will be vying to show off their talent and catch the eye of the selectors for selection to the national team. However some of the clubs will find it tough as they will be sans their top players who are on national duty against India which is in progress now.

Some of the teams will be led by players who have represented the national team in the past and present, the coaches steering the side are too well experience campaigners in the cricket fraternity. So let’s take a glance at the players who have been selected to lead the side and the coaches involved.

SSC the defending champions has not appointed a official coach yet but will be led by allrounder and top spinner Sachithra Senanayake who has a load of experience behind him having represented the national team at various stages and he will no doubt with his team mates will be seeking to retain the title for another year.

Chilaw Marians who ended as the second best team coached by Sarath Jayawardena will be captained by another allrounder in Malinda Pushpakumara. The left arm spinner has been the leading bowler in the premier domestic tournament for several seasons who received the national cap too late.

Ragama CC will be coached by the experience Mahesh Weerasinghe who most probably has the record of having won the number of championship titles in the school and club arena. Ragama CC has appointed Sri Lanka player Lahiru Thirimanne to lead the side but his unavailability due to the Indian tour will see Sameera Soyza deputising him till his return.

Colts CC coached by Muthumudalige Pushpakumara will see Sri Lanka player and allrounder Dilruwan Perera who is presently with the national team leading the side. According to coach Dilruwan will be available for the first match.

CCC under the guidance of Tharanga Dhammika will see Sri Lanka player Ashan Priyanjan leading the side. Ashan too has represented the national side at various stages but he will seek to keep up his form to regain his spot in the national side.

Moors SC coached by former allrounder Gayan Wijekoon will see one of the most experience player Chamara Silva who has crossed over from Panadura SC after the controversial match fixing incident that involved Panadura SC and Kalutara PCC in which he unfairly became the scapegoat and was slapped with a ban which the SLC officials was forced to lift.

Bloomfield coached by ex Sri Lanka player Jehan Mubarak will be led by left hand batsman Nipun Karunanayake. Nipun who has represented the Sri Lanka ‘A’ side against West Indies will have a tough job in his hands as the side comprises a lot of new faces.

Tamil Union under Kapila Weerasinghe will be led by hard hitter Kithuruwan Vithanage who will be leading the side for the second successive year. The experience left hand batsman has played in all three formats for the national side.

Saracens SC is coached by Dinesh Weerasinghe with Harsha Cooray leading the side who will also be leading the side for the second successive year. Harsha who has been in the club cricket arena for nearly one a half decades is an experience allrounder.

Badureliya CC under the guidance of former Sri Lanka player Ruwan Kalpage will be led by Alankara Asanka another player who will leading the side for the second successive year.

NCC coached by Ruvin Peiris will see former Sri Lanka player Angelo Perera spearheading the side. Angelo is fortunate to have some top cricketers in the side and will be seeking to steer NCC to regain the title which they won a few years back.

Army SC a team that came into the limelight in the recent past is coached by Pasan Wanasinghe with Sri Lanka player and allrounder Seekkuge Prasanna leading the side who will be aiming to guide the side to success.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority SC (SLPA CC) coached by Omesh Wijesiriwardena will have hard hitter and Gihan Rupasinghe as their captain. With SLPA CC coming in to the top division after their promotion allrounder Gihan has a big responsibility to steer the side to retain the spot.

BRC another side that came into the top division two years ago is coached by Indika de Saram and led by T.M. Sampath who will be under pressure to keep up the standard and quality of cricket that is being played at this level.

The matches scheduled to be played in the first week – SSC vs Moors SC, Ragama CC vs Bloomfield, Saracens SC vs CCC, SLPA CC vs Chilaw Marians, NCC vs Badureliya CC and BRC vs Army SC.
